Greetings!
This semester I'm loving classes! I'm tutoring anatomy & pharmacology and I love teaching underclassmen. . The more clinical the material, the more successful I am. I've been watching some of my peers fall apart when they have to apply the knowledge and put their hands on a patient. Great for my confidence when the clinicians test us and I answer correctly repeatedly.
I'm completing my divemaster certification course, the highest level before pro/instructor. Last night I went on a night dive and saw a huge, gorgeous green sea turtle with two remora. No scars, excellent body condition; amazing. I'm a still research assistant on the St Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network; leatherback nesting season begins shortly.
As usual, we go in-water turtle tagging every week; we've been catching turtles with boat propeller lacerations, choking on nets/plastic, etc. The beaches where we work and walk for nests are covered in trash. We do beach cleanups constantly and we have to call the locals on the days we swim to beg us not to throw trash over the hill while we work. It was refreshing to sea a healthy turtle in deep water. Last week we caught the first loggerhead in years (they are not native to the island)
This time next year I'll be headed back to the states for my clinical year. My top 3 right now are NC state, LSU, VAtech. We'll see where I'm headed next spring. Posting photos shortly.
bye for now
