I've been procrastinating the unpacking and file organizing situation so that's on the agenda for this weekend. I'm always appreciative of hand me down hard copy old exams and notes as well as files. Unfortunately most students are nearly as obsessive and organized as me [read: exams organized by subject in reverse chronological order with color-coded tabs] Often I get an unlabeled flash drive with a multitude of folders marked 'x semester.' This indicates that this is about seven students's folders for the specified semester in which they just dumped documents. Lots of repeats and outdated material so I spend precious time sorting through it all. I don't pass files down until I've made the golden file for that semester including only the ultimate study materials and clearly organized. Go swim and play in the sun, or sit inside and dig through files....hmmm. You can see why I've put it off.
This weekend is full of activities such as a toga-themed Beginning-of-Semester-Party. Mr. Ross is also happening, a talent show for the few men at Ross. I've got a SKSTMN breakfast and we begin team-tagging again Sunday. I'm thrilled to get back in the sea. The weather although cool and windy, has kept me off the beach. Hopefully there will be swimming and sun this time.
I was getting rather disappointed when I received absolutely no inquiries about Anatomy tutoring this semester. I really enjoy teaching my favorite subject; it's also making me less nervous about speaking in front of my future colleagues which was my original intent. When I teach students in younger semesters, it's a great review as well as a confidence boost so I was looking forward to it. I don't advertise and I'm not out there for the money. Some students (otherwise known as 'wal-mart') make thousands each semester by overcharging and overcrowding their tutor groups. I like to keep mine in small groups of 2-3 so that each person can see the specimen and hear me adequately. I also charge a fair rate. I was saddened by a lack of hits one day, and my inbox was overflowing and my schedule full in about 24 hours. I will be thrilled to be back in the Anatomy lab sharing my knowledge.
Back to class in a moment.
take care
