Mid-Semester Break is here.

Greetings Everyone,

I'll be studying, sleeping, relaxing, rinse and repeat. I'm caught up on all of my classes and just polished off midterm examinations. Catamaran trip, studying at the medical school library, turtle monitoring on Friday night as usual.

I dragged a bovine carcass off of a hiking trail last semester. One of the anatomy technicians helped me clean up some of the bones so that I can preserve them. I brought paint down this past break, and started painting them yesterday. The pelvis and skull are in excellent condition. Leave it to veterinary students... Speaking of, my friends at the neighboring med school smuggled me into their anatomy lab. I saw my first human cadaver. Surprisingly, not much different than handling the donkey prosections or canine cadavers. Last weekend the dean was on campus so I couldn't go in the lab proper, but this time one of the TAs is going to let me in and review structures with me. Some people think its creepy - but I find it fascinating comparing the domestic animal structures to humans. I love anatomy!

Drayco had his right pelvic limb amputated this week due to an osteosarcoma. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

take care
