Roomie

I think I have yet to post a proper description of my amazing roommate Ashley. She's a laid back granola hippie type. Tall, long dark hair, super fair skin. Our apartment has low ceilings and cabinets so the two of us feel like giants at home. She collected a handful of animal-related degrees in undergrad; went to Auburn at one point.  Worries about a turkey named Bourbon at the zoo; interested in zoo and wildlife medicine. We get along exceptionally well. And she feeds me.

For example, yesterday afternoon after my exam, we went spear fishing together (she's teaching me to wield a spear). We came home with a lobster skewer (caught 3, left the juveniles alone) and then made lobster pumpkin ravioli - from scratch. Yeah.

There's something primal about hunting for your own food. Plus eating fresh lobster that tastes delicious that you didn't pay for is excellent. I'm so proud. I have been practicing spearing beer cans for a while. And holding my breath longer and longer so I can free dive more efficiently.

Photos of last week's dinner to follow. Frying up shrimp, fresh okra, and eggplant for eggplant parmesan. And then the power goes out. But we still have a gas stove so we ate in the dark. Then I hit the beach for turtle monitoring.  :)

bye for now
