Yes, groceries are a notable achievement. Since we have no transportation, getting food has become an expedition. All of my friends are going stir crazy without cars; literally this is all they talk about. One set of guys has already gone in on one. I was planning on looking at them towards the end of the semester when the 7ths leave. In the meantime, all I have to do is be patient and enough people will have cars, so I won't need one yet. Plus, I get to evaluate theirs and take more time to choose one. Cars, although less expensive than the little samurai SUVs, are not so great. The roads here are not paved, there are potholes everywhere, and when you have 4 people in, the car drags and continually bottoms out. EVERY vehicle here is a piece of crap. They're all falling apart, especially since students only drive them for 2 years and you've already heard about the sweet nicknames. I've got some time to pick out a name for mine...
If you've never heard of a Hash, a group of locals meets up at various places around the island every few weeks and hikes to an undisclosed location. It could be a cave, the ocean, a mountain, anything. There is a runner group and walkers, but this is no walk - it's a climb/hike all over cliffs and rocks along the shore. Dogs, kids, people of all ages. There's always a costume theme so people dress up and they have a contest prior to heading out. I got "initiated" at the end as a virgin - chug a beer and then get more poured over your head. At least it was cold.

Mr RUSVM was entertaining. The guys had to perform in formal wear, hero, sleepwear, and talent categories. There was a firedancer and one guy did a supermario game.
Ok, off to the Marriott for a big brunch, and then the beach with my anatomy books.
bye for now
